Rise & Gable works on the Georgian and Victorian houses of central Bristol, where the buildings are tall, narrow and full of constraints. Our projects are usually whole-house renovations: reworking a basement or lower ground floor, rebuilding a rear closet wing, repairing plasterwork and windows, and threading services through without wrecking the original rooms. We enjoy this kind of careful work and we are patient with the consents it requires. Where an extension is appropriate we keep it subordinate to the house. We work with a small group of builders and joiners who are used to older buildings and their surprises.
