Fen House Architects works on houses in and around Cambridge, with a long-standing interest in low-energy design. Our projects range from substantial extensions to complete new homes, and in most cases the brief includes making the building genuinely cheap to run. That means careful attention to insulation, airtightness, shading and ventilation from the first sketch rather than as a later addition. We model energy performance as we design so clients can see the effect of decisions before committing to them. We also take on retrofits of older houses, which are harder and often more rewarding than starting again.
